Carmen Figueroa is a NYC-based artist originally from Mexico City, where the rich culture became a major influence in her visual language. She grew up surrounded by the overwhelming baroque tradition in architecture that survives from the colonial era, as well as the famous muralist tradition and gritty underground urban culture. As a teenager she started her Fine Arts Education at the Mexican Fine Arts Institute. There, she received various awards from the National Fine Arts Institute. At a young age, she moved to NYC to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts. She recently obtained an MFA from Brooklyn College, School of Art. http://www.carmen-gallery.com/
